More Information
Multi-user editing
All accounts are secure and editors can be controlled to only manage the areas they are given. Pages can be set so that they need approval by a administrator who can then come along, check the content and make it live for everybody to see. When users are trusted the administrator can simply change the settings on the user account to enable them to have publishing control on a page or section. Pages can also be password protected so content can be viewed from anywhere on the web privately.
Site Editor is expandable
Site Editor is modular which means that we can add almost anything to it, so if there is something that you wish to implement in the future there will be no disruption to your service. We can add the extra facility at any time.
Automatic navigation
With Site Editor it is not only extremely easy to edit pages but it is packed with useful features (see our 'Site Editor Benefits' section). Site Editor manages your navigation automatically. If a page is approved, within seconds Site Editor will change the web site navigation to show the new page that has been added. This means you don't have to worry about keeping the site linking together; it is all done automatically. On the finished site pages, the navigation will expand on each section so you can get deep into the site within a few clicks. The search facility and site map options are great ways for people to access your site and all of these, once added, are taken care of automatically by Site Editor. The search can be set to search the whole site or certain areas only and results are displayed in order of relevancy.
Templates, disability aware
With Site Editor we can generate the web pages in many different formats using templates. One of these templates has been designed specifically for people who are visually impaired following guidelines from the RNIB, the WAI and is developed to HTML 4.01, CSS2 and WAI-AA standards. These pages are generated with all the others containing exactly the same information so as not to discriminate. All templates are made to expand and contract to different screen sizes. The smallest size we design to is 800x600 pixels. Templates can be changed to match different times of year; when a template is replaced the whole site changes all the pages which use that template instantly.
Straw polls
Online polls are a great way of getting feedback from your web site's users. Site Editor's straw poll facility allows you to set up multiple online polls. The easy to use settings allow you to customise both questions, answers, and display methods. You can allow users to give multiple or singular votes.
Web forms
Feedback from the web site can be sent in by a secure web form. In Site Editor these are easy to add. You can set up a form in minutes, send results to multiple users and add as many fields as you like. All form inputs are supported. You can even make a web form into a mailing list signup form.
Mailing lists
Mailing lists can be created so that people can sign up for topical newsletters or mail shots. When a mailing list has been created, an administrator can send an e-mail to everyone in the mailing list through Site Editor by cutting and pasting their text into the message box or by choosing a web page they wish to send as an e-mail. Once the 'Send' button is clicked all the rest is taken care of automatically by Site Editor.
Online statistics
For each web site that is hosted we provide statistics that are very useful to identify how popular your site is, which parts are the most popular, and how people are finding you. You can even find out which search engines people have found you from and what keywords/phrases they typed in to find you.
Custom 'add ons'
Advanced users may from time to time want to add their own HTML, JavaScript, Applets etc. This is available by using the 'Text-HTML' element. This will allow snippets to be added manually as if creating a web page manually. We don't recommend the use of this facility because it should be for advanced users only as basic users will struggle, however we do appreciate the need for it. In the user settings this element can be turned off by an administrator.
