A counter is useful if you want to make aware to the public how many times your site has been hit(viewed). To create a counter on your site:

• Choose the "Counter" element from the list of element types. 
• Click on the Add Item button. 
• Enter what number you want the counter to start from. 
• Enter a paragraph of pre-formatted text in the box provided. Use the word COUNTER where you want the current counter value to appear. E.g. This page has been viewed COUNTER times. 
• Select the alignment of the counter. 
• Store changes
